Hadi F. Habal

Co-Founder, CEO

Hadi brings a distinct combination of experience and expertise in business leadership, investing, and innovation to driving HCG’s value creation and growth strategy. He has been an investor in alternatives for most of his career, with a keen eye to both reward and risk.

Prior to founding HCG, he was a portfolio manager at Bluecrest Capital Management and Millennium Partners, and a principal at JPMorgan Partners (n/k/a CCMP Capital), the private equity affiliate of JPMorgan. He also served as a Vice President in JPMorgan’s Mergers & Acquisitions group. He started his career in the telecom services sector with GTE (n/k/a Verizon) as a Member of the Technical Staff.

Hadi has an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT, an MS in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Lehigh University. Hadi holds U.S. patent #5519760 entitled “Cellular Network-Based Location System”.

Jose N. Penabad

Co-Founder, CIO

Jose embodies the foresight that has kept HCG at the vanguard of opportunities in private credit. His demonstrated ability to see how trends can evolve into investment opportunities and his rigorous, highly disciplined approach to portfolio management are key drivers behind HCG’s consistent record of success. He has been an investor in alternative assets for most of his career, focused on financials and debt strategies.

Prior to founding HCG, he was a senior analyst at SAB Capital Management and an associate at JPMorgan Partners. Jose began working on Wall Street as a summer intern for 3 years, twice as a selection for the Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) program and once via selection for Morgan Stanley’s Diversity internship program. His first major career assignment at Morgan Stanley in 2002: working on the debt restructuring of the largest Argentine corporate default.

Jose has a BA in International Finance and Marketing and a BA in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami.
